Hiking with kids can be tricky. It can't be too long, too steep or too boring otherwise we all know what's coming... "MUUUUM CAN WE LEAVE YET? THIS IS SOOOO BORING!!" or "I'M TIRED, I'M NOT WALKING ANYMORE!"
Don't worry though, Whistler has some amazing family friendly hiking trails with epic views where you don't have to walk too far and there is so much to see, the kids will never be bored.
1. THE WHISTLER TRAIN WRECK
This trail starts in Cheakamus (Whistler South) and follows along the Cheakamus River with amazing views of the river and waterfalls along the way. The kids will love the suspension bridge crossing high over the river and exploring the abandoned, graffiti covers train cars in the forest.
2. WHISTLER AND BLACKCOMB ALPINE TRAILS
Skip the hard hiking and get breathtaking alpine views at the top of the Whistler and Blackcomb gondolas. There is a range of green-black rated trails to suit any hiking style and loops from short-long depending on what your family can handle.
Make a day of it and take the Peak to Peak gondola across the valley from one mountaintop to the other (make sure you get in the glass bottom one, the kids will love it!). You can eat lunch with a view on top of either mountain.
3. LOST LAKE TRAILS
Get lost in the forest with the winding biking and hiking trails at Lost Lake. There trails are perfect because you are never far from the Passivhaus (which has bathrooms and snacks), the parking lot or Lost Lake itself.
Spend awhile exploring the forest and then spend the rest of the day hanging out at the lake with a picnic, playing in the sand and jumping off the dock!
