Just because a hotel or accommodation is listed as ski in, ski out doesn't mean it is the whole year or that it's suitable for all levels of skiers. You should also consider how you're going to go down in the evenings for dinner, groceries and exploring the village.

Here is what you need to know about each of the ski in, ski out areas in Whistler:

Whistler Main Village

All located at the base so you don't have to worry about the amount of snow, difficulty of the run or how you're going to get to the village in the evenings

Here are the accommodations in Whistler Village that are ski in, ski out (there are more that are very close but these are the three that are closest to ski in, ski out):

The Hilton
The Westin Resort and Spa
Pan Pacific Mountainside

Blackcomb/Upper Village

The ski in and out is an easy green run (not suitable for first timers, must be able to ski a green run)
You can easily walk down the hill in regular boots to go for dinner or to explore the village
Not ski in and ski out if there isn't snow (possible early and late season)

Here are all the ski in, ski out accommodations in the Upper Village:

Blackcomb Springs
Snowbird
Cedar Creek
The Woodrun Lodge
Painted Cliff Condos
Arrowhead Point Condos

Here are the accommodations located directly at the base of Blackcomb Gondola so you don't have to worry if there's snow to the bottom or not (you can download the gondola):

Fairmont Chateau (right at the base)
Embarc (right at the base)
Whistler Premier (right at the base)
Le Chamois (right at the base)

Glacier Drive Area

Ski in, ski out access to both mountains (Village Run to Whistler base, Yellow Brick Road to Blackcomb base)
Accessible via green runs (not suitable for first timers)
Can access from Whistler Base (via Excalibur Gondola mid station) and Blackcomb Base (Magic Chair)
Can take the Excalibur gondola down to the main village or walk down Yellow Brick Road to Blackcomb Village
The Excalibur Gondola closes at 6pm so after that the only way to get up or down is to walk, take a taxi or take the bus (Bus 7 Staff Housing)
Not ski in or ski out when there isn't any snow (possible early and late season)

Creekside

The Fairmont accommodations offer a free shuttle
There are 2 ski in, ski out accommodations outside the yellow area that are right at the base that are not dependant on ability or amount of snow
The ski run is a black diamond so you must be an expert skier to get there
No ski in, ski out if there's no snow (possible early and late season)
No public bus stops so if you're not staying in the Fairmont you would need a car rental or a taxi to get to any village
