Choosing the Right Whistler Accomodation

Picture this: you arrive at your dream ski-in, ski-out hotel with an outdoor, heated pool, hot tub with complimentary morning yoga at the fitness centre and a fully equip kitchen so you don't have to go out at every meal. You arrive at the beginning of December and have been watching the snow cams since the beginning of November - there has been tons of snow! On your first morning you get all your ski gear on and head out the door.

When you reach the ski slope you suddenly realize there's no snow! What a nightmare! Since it's only early December it hasn't snowed as much at the bottom as it has at the top and you can't ski to the bottom quite yet and now you have to walk down carrying your skis, your kids skis and maybe even your kids!

This scenario happens ALL THE TIME and it can be so easily avoided. I can help you choose the right hotel at the right time of year. Just because a hotel is advertised as "ski-in, ski-out" doesn't mean it is the whole year.

Whether you're looking for the highest service hotel, a self sufficient condo, the best outdoor pool or a hotel in the heart of the village, I can help you find the best solution for you and your family.

5 Things to Check Before Booking Your Hotel (winter only):

If your accommodation is advertised as ski-in, ski-out make sure that there's enough snow for you to ski in and out (sometimes it doesn't snow to the bottom until January and likely the snow will be melted by mid-April, possible before).
If your accommodation isn't within walking distance of the lifts, check to see if there is a shuttle or a ski valet at the base (otherwise you'll be stuck renting a car, walking a long way or taking the bus with all of your gear).
Is there a pool and/or hot tub? The kids need something to do after skiing and having a pool saves you the trouble of filling every afternoon with another activity (also a hot tub after skiing is sooooo good).
Is there a dryer or a fireplace? Seems silly but you will be so thankful when you have dry, warm mittens to put on in the morning.
Is there a kitchen in the room? Save yourself time, money and hassle of going out for every meal. Sometimes after a day on the hill you just want to curl up on the couch and eat dinner at home. Having a kitchen gives you options.

Being close to the lifts and having a pool in summer isn't important because you likely won't being going up the lift everyday and no matter where you are in Whistler you are within biking distance of a lake!
